So, I will briefly summarise life since we left ‘Blighty’ in 1998, to circumnavigate the world at large!
We spent a very interesting two years, full of experience and adventure, travelling from North to South America onboard our yacht, Ben-the-Boat.
Our intended circumnavigation was interrupted by Philip deciding to change his Legal/Merchant Banking career to that of a Doctor, instigated by the discovery of an American medical school on the small (8km²!) island of Saba!

This thus entailed saying goodbye to Ben-the-Boat to spend four years on Caribbean terra firma (two years for P to attend Saba Medical School, and then two years living on Nevis for P’s hospital training).

This was then followed by three years in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, for P to do his Medical Residency.

During this time, we thought long and hard about our future place of residence, which included many travels to different parts of the world, to help us make this decision. I am strongly biased towards island life within a tropical climate, after my childhood in the Turks and Caicos Islands and then subsequent years spent in the Caribbean. I am also a Francophile, loving all that is French; so what better combination can you have of French culture and a small island than St-Barthélemy/St Barth, in the French West Indies (commonly know to the Brits. et al as St Barts)? Philip did not need much persuasion, having developed an equal passion for this part of the world during life onboard Ben-the-Boat. So this is where life on St Barth begins, in Les Lataniers, Anse des Cayes.
